Explore in Merge Explorer

Ticket to Mars!
Welcome to Mars, Explorer! In this experience we’ll take a look at a variety of things about Mars, the Red Planet.
Beyond our Solar System
The Sun is the center of our world in more ways than one: its energy powers life on Earth, and it is also the center of our solar system. In the activities below, we will look at how the solar system formed and explore the planets and other astronomical objects found in it. We will also go beyond the solar system to see how it fits into its larger neighborhood in space.
Stars in the Sky
Stars really are everywhere, even though you can only see them at night. To us, they look pretty small, but the truth is they’re some of the largest things in the universe! Let’s take a look at various aspects of a star and see what we can observe.
The Rotation of the Earth
The Earth spins on its own axis, the Moon rotates around us, and we rotate around the Sun. It’s a complex system that is responsible for everything from tides, to seasons, to life itself! Learn more about it in this topic card and why these rotations matter!

Explore Merge Object Viewer

Our Solar System
View each of the planets in our solar system from every angle, along with some of their moons.
Phases of the Moon
Did you know that the Moon doesn’t produce any light of its own? Just like daytime here on Earth, sunlight illuminates the Moon. As the Moon orbits around Earth, and Earth orbits around the Sun, the angle between the Sun, Moon, and Earth changes. As a result, the amount of sunlight that reflects off the Moon that we can see changes every day. In this collection, you will learn about the moon phases, as well as a lunar and solar eclipse!
Space Science
Observe robots, satellites, and other space exploration vehicles like the Lunar Module, Curiosity Rover and Saturn Rocket in this collection.

Satellites
There are both natural and man-made satellites. Examples of natural satellites are the Moon and Earth (since the Moon orbits the Earth, and the Earth orbits the Sun). Thousands of man-made satellites orbit Earth. Some take pictures of the planet that help meteorologists predict weather and track hurricanes, while others take pictures of other planets, the sun, black holes, dark matter or faraway galaxies. These pictures help scientists better understand the solar system and universe.
Earth
Earth is made up of five major subsystems: the Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, Biosphere, Cryosphere, and Geosphere. Each major part is connected to the other parts in a complex web of processes. In this module, you’ll see different views of the whole Earth, from the classic blue marble view, to a recent satellite view, and even the Earth as it appears at night.
